[etoetoteato] was started by a gathering of female artists in the Hokuriku region of Northwest Honshu, Japan. Believing that quality life begins with everyday items, the brand hopes that its customers can feel the warmth and joy of daily life with its offering of meticulously crafted tableware, each made by hand.

The production of these items, each made carefully from a single piece of beech wood, truly showcases the Japanese spirit of omotenashi – hospitality, warmth, and respect that all begins at home. [Chopsticks] [Male . Female . Child]

Chopsticks are inherently a part of East Asian food culture and history. It is not uncommon to see a child learn to use chopsticks to eat during a family dinner. These chopsticks were each scraped in a trailing motion, giving the hands a sense of familiarity during use, also making it easier to grip food.

They come in three different sizes to cater to every family member. These chopsticks also make a fantastic wedding gift, and a very (un)subtle hint for the couple to have a child quickly.

[Cutting Board]

The cutting board is made with minimal waste on the original material, taking advantage of its original shape, resulting in a natural texture and form. As it’s made completely of beech wood, the grooves at the back of the board prevent the material from warping.

Classic glasswares and earthenwares are a modern commodity in households these days; so we would like to shake things up a little, perhaps back to the beauty of Japanese wooden tableware.
 
Hatashiki was established in 1930, birthed from the traditional craft of the Yamanaka style of laquerware from Yamanaka Onsen in Saga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The Ishikawa Prefecture is a region with a rich history in traditional arts and craft and prides itself on their quality craft, especially laquerware.
 
Highly skilled woodturning thrives in Yamanaka, resulting in distinctive and beautiful grains that are rich in expression. Woodturning is achieved with plain wood before applying the lacquer. Hatashiki deliberately leaves these woodturned vessels in this state in order to preserve the beauty of the plain wood for everyday use.

今日はホームパーティなどの「おもてなし」で大活躍する、
オリーブの木のカッティングボードをご紹介します。

シンガポールに来てからポットラックランチやホームパーティに招待いただくことが多くて、
いつも、日本人の奥さまたちの料理の腕前には驚かされています。

私も料理が好きで、いつも「おもてなしは、どうしたら良いかしら？」と考えているのですが、

The Centerpiece,The heart of the party.

Every table should have a main attraction, and the simplest one is a large cutting board. Having a cutting board on your table as a centerpiece for a home party will greatly alter your guests’ impression. For instance, just placing ham, cheese, vegetables and fruits on a cutting board will create a lavish atmosphere.  

These cutting boards were created from olive trees in Andalusia, Spain and are an indispensable item for home parties. Every year, the master of the olive garden, as if having a dialogue with individual trees, handpicks and makes them in limited quantity. ロバートソンウォーク1階にあるEDIT LIFE SINGAPOREでは、生活雑貨を販売する「楽食住展」を開催中です。

EDIT LIFE SINGAPOREでは、6月22日から9月27日まで、生活雑貨を販売する「楽食住展」を開催しています。
普段の生活に使う、『道具』、『生活雑貨』だからこそ、おしゃれにエッジを効かせて、
毎日の気分を盛り上げていきましょう！

今回、ご紹介させて頂くのは、香りのブランド〈a day〉から2アイテム。

〈a day〉は、デザイナーやファッション・ディレクターとして活躍する福田春美さんがディレクションを手掛け、
2014年に誕生したホームケア＆ホームフレグランスブランドです。

〈a day〉の「ファブリック・エア・ミスト」。2サイズあって、こちらが300ml入りの大サイズ。

まずは〈a day〉のフィグ&クローブの香りがする「ミスト」。
このミストは、ソファ、ベッド、ラグなどにかけると、お部屋にいい香りが広がります。
例えば、寝る前、起きた時、お掃除の後、来客の前後、揚げ物料理をした後に。
子供がありえない物をこぼしてゲンナリしちゃった後に。

Separated into male and female artists over two months, it is a gathering of top graphic designers, photographers, architects, musicians, and embroidery artists active in their field. 近年ますます盛り上がりを見せるシンガポールのアートシーン。中でも、今、最も注目を集めているアーティストが一堂に介すエキシビジョンを4月11日から6月19日までの約2ヶ月間、EDIT LIFE SINGAPOREで開催します。キュレーターはシンガポールカルチャーの中心的存在ともいえる書店「BooksActually」のオーナー・Kenny Leck氏。5月12日までの前半は、グラフィックデザイナーやクリエイティブディレクター、ミュージシャンなど男性アーティストたちによる作品を展示、販売します。彼らの才能に触れられる貴重な機会、お見逃しなく。

Holycrap.sg was started in 2011 by the Lim family, Claire, Renn, Aira, and Pann. They
believe that expression is a form of art and it can manifest in many ways. Their Rubbish Famzines and collaterals designed by Holycrap & Kinetic Singapore has won awards both locally and internationally. Their works represents “The Family Now”, and they are always in search of moments and memories.

Hanging Up The Moon is the moniker
of singer-songwriter Sean Lam, a well- respected figure in the Singapore music scene, one of the pioneers when it started in the early 90s. Sean has gone on to distinguish himself outside of the music scene too as an interactive designer.

Joshua Ip is the Singapore Literature Prize-winning author of ‘making love with scrabble tiles’ (2013), and ‘sonnets from

Alvin is one half of HOKO, a research platform focusing on material and immaterial conditions that make up our experience of the everyday. His partner, Clara Koh, is featured in the female artist exhibition.

We opened from 11 April our exhibition「NOW , SINGAPORE Vol 01.  〜MALE CREATORS〜 」. In continuation, starting from 16th May, Singapore’s Female Artists whom have participated actively in the world will come to showcase and sell their art works!

[About Harumi Fukuda and “My Favorite Things”]

Harumi is our brand director of Edit Life, who has long experience as creative director in fashion industry in Japan.

Leslie is a lead vocalist of rock, experimental and electronica band “Observatory” based in Singapore. He is currently pursuing a solo performance career as well. One of his most prominent project of late is called “In The Living Room”, where he sings with his acoustic guitar in private houses in Singapore.

[About Hitoshi Matsuo]

Hitoshi is our producer of Edit Life Tokyo／Singapore. He is an experienced editor of Japanese major magazines, such as “Brutas” and “Hanako”.
